Eric S. Whitaker served as General Counsel of 10x Genomics from July 2017 and later as its Chief Legal Officer. On November 12, 2025 he announced his retirement as Chief Legal Officer effective January 1, 2026, after which he remained an employee as Strategic Counsel.
Before joining 10x Genomics he was Chief Legal Officer of Nutanix (September 2014-May 2017), Chief Legal Officer of SanDisk (January 2013-September 2014) and General Counsel of Tesla (October 2010-November 2012), and earlier served as General Counsel for a number of technology companies and worked as an attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP.
He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. in Politics from Princeton University.
