Shehnaaz Suliman, M.D., M.Phil., M.B.A., has served on the 10x Genomics board of directors since August 2019.
She has been President, CEO and a board member of ReCode Therapeutics since January 2022. Previously she was President and Chief Operating Officer of Alector from December 2019 to January 2022 (and interim Chief Business Officer from January 2020 to January 2022) and Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy of Theravance Biopharma from July 2017 to March 2019. Earlier she worked at Roche and Genentech (2010-2017) and held management roles at Gilead Sciences (2005-2010), and began her career as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Petkevich & Partners.
She received her M.D. (MB, ChB) from the University of Cape Town Medical School and holds an M.B.A. (with distinction) and an M.Phil. in Development Studies from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
