James P. Keane is the Lead Independent Director of Rockwell Automation, a role he has held since 2023. He is the retired President and Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chair of Steelcase Inc., a global leader in office furniture and workplace solutions.
Mr. Keane served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Steelcase from March 2014 to October 2021 and served on the Steelcase Board of Directors from 2013 until his retirement in 2022. Over his 25-year tenure he held multiple senior leadership roles including President and Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and President of the Steelcase Group, leading sales, marketing, product development, engineering, manufacturing, design, and distribution across North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific.
