About

Neha Narula has served as a member of Block's board of directors since July 2023. Dr. Narula has served as a Director of the Digital Currency Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ("MIT") Media Lab, an interdisciplinary research lab focusing on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, since January 2017, and she previously was the Director of Research in digital currency at MIT Media Lab from May to December 2016. Prior to joining MIT, Dr. Narula was a Senior Software Engineer at Google.

Dr. Narula currently serves on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority's FinTech Industry Committee and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Innovations Advisory Council. She previously served on PayPal's Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies Advisory Council.

Dr. Narula holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Dartmouth College and a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT. She was selected to serve on Block's board of directors because of her experience with distributed systems, cryptography, cryptocurrencies, and programmable money.
