Mr. Shepherd was appointed to the Capital One Board effective May 18, 2025 in connection with the acquisition of Discover. He served as interim Chief Executive Officer and President of Discover from April 2024 until the acquisition, and as a member of the Discover board from August 2023 until the acquisition. Before Discover he was Chairman and CEO of BancWest Corporation and a Director and Chair of BNP Paribas, USA, and earlier was General Counsel of The Bank of New York Company and Shawmut National Corporation. He also served in government as Senior Deputy Comptroller of the Currency, Associate Counsel to the President, and Deputy Assistant Attorney General.
