Christopher M. Hilger is the Lead Director of Donaldson Company, serving as a director since 2021 and as Lead Director since 2025. He chairs the Corporate Governance Committee and is a member of the Human Resources Committee. He is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Securian Financial Group, Inc., an insurance company, a role he has held since 2017.
At Securian Financial, Hilger was Chief Executive Officer from 2015 to 2017 and President from 2012 to 2015. After joining Securian in 2004 he advanced into positions of greater responsibility in distribution development, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning. He brings management and financial experience to the Board.
Hilger serves on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minnesota, co-chairs the St. Paul Downtown Alliance and is a member of the executive committee of the Minnesota Business Partnership. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Indiana University.
