Thomas V. Taylor, Jr. serves as Executive Chair of Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc. (since 2025) and has been a director since 2012. He previously served as the company's Chief Executive Officer from December 2012 to 2025, guiding Floor & Decor's transformation into a leading specialty retailer and its successful initial public offering in 2017. He brings over 40 years of leadership experience in retail and home improvement.
Mr. Taylor began his career at age 16 in 1983 at a Miami Home Depot store. He worked his way up through various manager, district manager, vice president, president, and senior vice president roles to eventually serve as Executive Vice President of Operations with responsibility for all Home Depot stores (a role overseeing the company's roughly 2,200 stores), and then as Executive Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing, again for all stores. After leaving Home Depot in 2006, he spent the next six years as a Managing Director at Sun Capital Partners, where he served as a board member for more than twenty portfolio companies across the United States and Europe.
His expertise spans strategic growth, merchandising, marketing, and operational excellence. He has also served on the board of National Vision Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NVI) from 2018 to 2025, and is involved with Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants and the Avalon Action Alliance. His significant experience as a board member and his deep expertise in the home improvement retail industry support his service on the Floor & Decor board.
