Robert Apple has served as MasTec's Chief Operating Officer since December 2006, having previously been group president for the company's energy service operations. Earlier he was a senior vice president at DIRECTV and Chief Operating Officer and board member of the Telefonica affiliate Via Digital, held various roles at Hughes Electronics including Chief Executive Officer of Hughes Electronics-Spain, and formerly served on the board of Domtar Corporation (NYSE: UFS). A U.S. Naval Academy graduate, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps and completed the Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun).
