William E. Conway, Jr. is a Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board of Carlyle. He previously served as the firm's Chief Investment Officer, Co-Chief Executive Officer, and Interim Chief Executive Officer, assuming his board leadership role in 2011.

Prior to co-founding Carlyle in 1987, Mr. Conway was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MCI Communications Corporation, and earlier its Vice President and Treasurer from 1981 to 1984. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
