Christopher L. Henson served as Head of Banking and Insurance of Truist Financial Corporation from 2019 until his retirement in September 2021. He joined predecessor BB&T Financial Corporation's Leadership Development Program in 1985 and held positions of increasing responsibility over nearly two decades, joining the executive management team in 2004 as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer before being promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer from 2016 to 2019.
During his tenure BB&T grew from a small eastern North Carolina bank with roughly $2 billion in assets to the eighth-largest U.S. bank with approximately $225 billion in assets, and he played an instrumental role in the BB&T and SunTrust merger. He was nominated for election to the KeyCorp Board in January 2026 and serves on the High Point University Board of Trustees.
