Tonya L. Berry is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CMS Energy and Consumers Energy, a position she has held since July 2025. She previously served as Senior Vice President from February 2022 to July 2025, and as Vice President from November 2018 to February 2022.
Berry joined Consumers Energy in 2015 as a member of the quality team. After briefly serving as manager of strategic initiatives with Massachusetts-based Energy Federation, Inc., she returned in 2017 to lead Consumers Energy's Lean Office and the company's adoption of the CE Way. She subsequently served as vice president of operations performance (2018-2020) and vice president of gas operations (from 2020), responsible for gas transmission, distribution, and the integrity of the company's gas system; in February 2022 she was named senior vice president of Transformation and Engineering. Berry has over 20 years of experience deploying Lean methodologies to enhance quality and improve work management within gas and electric groups, and prior to joining Consumers Energy she worked for Chrysler LLC in lean operations and industrial engineering.
